- Advisory services
We can also give advice and back up over the telephone following our lectures. If you are outside our area we can often refer you to an experienced professional who will be able to help you by seeing you and your dog.
We understand how frustrating it can be for the owner when the dog seems to have "selective" hearing or do just the opposite of what you ask the dog to do! Some dogs simply ignore the owner when given a command. Try to keep your temper and don't resort to hitting, shouting or smacking your dog. This can often make matters worse and in some cases the dog will resort to aggressive behaviour. Contact us for HELP!
- Consultations
Available for owners who have serious behavioural problems with their dogs, veterinary referral essential.
For aggressive dogs or dogs with serious behavioural problems a consultation is essential. We only see these dogs if they are referred by their veterinary surgeon. This will rule out the possibility that the dog's behaviour is caused by a medical condition.
We make sure that you understand exactly what you will have to do, why you are doing it and how it will alter your dog's behaviour. By giving you an insight into how dogs think, how their minds work and why they develop problems you will be in a better position to stick to our retraining program.
We have a series of retraining programs to help with specific problems. This usually very helpful for someone who has a minor but irritating problem which does not need lengthy consultations.
Based on past results, we would expect to see a dramatic change in the dogs behaviour within a week, provided that everyone involved with the dog treats him the same and sticks to the program which will be given to you in writing at the end of the session.
- First Contact
Your first contact with us will usually be over the telephone. We take your details and ask you about the problems you are experiencing with your dog/s. You will be asked to visit your veterinary surgeon to have your dog checked out to exclude medical conditions, which might cause a change in his behaviour.
We never use aggressive training methods as this can often make the problem worse. We discuss the problems your dog has in detail and ask you a number of questions as well as observing how your dog interacts with you, in order to fully assess your dog.
Then we go through the retraining program with you, making sure you fully understand not only what you are being asked to do but also, why you must do it. At the end of the day it is you, the owner and your family that has to retrain the dog so it is vital that you all follow the program we leave with you.
You will often see a change in your dog quite quickly. Providing the program is followed and everyone that handles the dog is consistent and patient, normally you only have to continue the training program to see a marked change in your dog's behaviour.
We are always here to give you back up, support or more help should you need it.
